Four Powerful Lessons to Inspire Your Remote Job Search
/Ready to jumpstart your remote job search with a dose of inspiration? Here are four powerful lessons that will dramatically improve the results you get with your remote job search. These takeaways are from the book, Work Harder. Work Smarter. by Curtis Jackson (50 Cent).
As much as 2020 was a year we’ll never forget, it also came with a silver lining. It caused us to look inward and reflect. Many of us asked ourselves life’s deepest questions and questions we never have time to think about. That is until COVID forced many of us to stay at home with nothing but our thoughts. You may have asked yourself:
What’s working in my life and what’s not?
What matters the most to me?
What do I want to change?
By now some of you have got the taste of what working remotely is like and for others 2020 solidified the desire to go remote once and for all.
Let’s dive into these powerful lessons from 50 Cent’s book and what it means to your remote job search.
1. Be Fearless.
Run TOWARDS your fears, not away. Comfort is a dream killer.
Simple yet powerful. We all know that the comfort zone is the killer of all dreams. But what if instead of run away from those fears, you ran towards them - head-on.
Don’t be afraid to go after that remote job. Think of how different would life be if you weren’t afraid.
2. Build a Strong Crew.
You’re only as strong as the weaker person in your crew. That’s why you have to be extremely cautious of whom you have around.
We’ve all heard the saying you’re the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Find a crew or mentor that has gone remote before, that knows the ropes. Not only will they have the knowledge and know-how on how to land a remote job, but they’ll also inspire you, keep you positive and motivated when the going gets tough and elevate you to new levels. This helps with your mindset as you go through the journey of landing a remote job and strategically it’ll help you land a remote job faster than trying to go at it on your own.
3. Evolve or Die.
Successful people always refuse to settle for the status quo. Look for ways to absorb new information. Respect your past but never let it stop you from moving into the future.
It’s simple. Stop settling for a 9-5. Stop making excuses. Just because you’ve always lived that 9-5 life, doesn’t mean it needs to remain in your future. Your past doesn’t predict your future, but the actions you take NOW will. So what action will you commit to taking so that you can finally go remote once and for all?
4. Power of Perception.
The world will see you the way you see you and treat you the way you treat yourself. How you present yourself is key.
So, you want a remote job but how often do you think:
“I’m not good enough”
“I feel like an imposter”
The first person you need to convince you’re worthy of a remote job isn’t remote employers, it’s you. To attract remote employers to you, create high-value visibility. Know how to position yourself as the best candidate. If you were to look at your profile on LinkedIn right now, what would it say about you? Are you actively nurturing your networking and posting? Are you highlighting your accomplishments? Whether it’s LinkedIn, your resume, or Networking, you always need to position yourself as a top candidate. That also means always giving 100% to the process of securing that remote job.
Tell me in the comments, which of these four lessons do you need to start focusing on? What else would you add to this list?
